What we do

Happitime is a non-profit-making organisation and a registered charity. We have been offering children in and around Hackney an safe and fun place to play and learn since 1967.

Children are dropped off by their parents and carers. There is a maximum of 16 children, cared for by three professional early years practioners and one or two parent helpers.

Children have plenty of free play - they can choose of a range of themed activities from home corner play, small world play and dressing up, along with arts and crafts, and group activities such as music, singing and story time. A healthy snack is provided each morning.

On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, the playgroup also runs a drop-in stay and play session for parents and carers and their children. This gives new parents a chance to try us out.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework 2012

“A particular strength of this particular setting is that staff know the children well and work closely with parents to ensure children's individual needs are fully supported.”

OFSTED Inspection Report, June 2007

“Children enjoy their time at the pre-school, they are happy and engrossed in activities of their choice. Throughout the session children are seen to be smiling and laughing and enjoyed activities such as dressing up.”
